FINRA Has Commenced An Investigation Into Broker, Eric Kunis, For Alleged Unsuitable Investment Recommendations And Improper Commission Charges
The Wolper Law Firm is currently investigating claims against Eric Kunis, a Financial Advisor at Trident Partners in Woodbury, New York. Eric Kunis has been in the securities industry since the 1990s and previously worked at Maxim Partners and at least three other brokerage firms that have since been expelled by FINRA.
According to publicly available records released by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), in October 2018, FINRA initiated an investigation of Eric Kunis, alleging: “Recommendations caused his customers to incur unnecessary sales charges, and were unsuitable in view of the frequency and cost of the transactions.” The investigation remains pending.
In addition, Eric Kunis has had two judgments/liens filed against him, which may be an indication of financial instability.

Financial advisors have a legal and regulatory obligation to recommend only suitable investments that are appropriate for their clients’ needs and objectives. Their employing brokerage firm has a legal and regulatory obligation to supervise the Financial Advisors’ sales practices and dealings with clients. To the extent any of these duties are breached, the customer may be entitled to a recovery of his or her investment losses.
In addition, Financial Advisors must provide customers with the best possible trade execution and offer them the opportunity to invest in lower cost options, if appropriate. For example, Financial Advisors must offer clients the opportunity to invest in the particular mutual fund class shares that make economic sense for the client. Depending on the investor’s time horizon, certain mutual class shares may be more cost effective for the client.
